Service

The Upazila Digital Center started its operation in April 2014 under the Sasek Information Highway Project under the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology. The project covers Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and India. The project has three parts-

1) Regional network, which is basically an inter-Saskatchewan connecting network.

2) Village Network, which is a network for distribution of IT based services through Upazila Digital Centers at the village level.

3) Research and Training Network, which is a communication network between a total of four IT research institutes in each of the SASEC countries.

Service partners include public and private banks (such as Dutch Bangla, Mercantile, Trust, Bikash), life insurance companies (such as state-owned life insurance), telecommunications companies (such as Robi, Banglalink) and non-Govt. Institutions (British Council, Shoot, Practical Action). Partners provide support to solve some software and hardware problems (such as Bangladesh Computer Council, BCC, Bangladesh Computer Society, BCS, and Technology Today). Partnering with the new agency UISC offers a variety of useful services to help them remain active financially. Government agencies also benefit from UISC infrastructure and resources by using them to collect information, identify social security net beneficiaries, and distribute allowances.

 

Government services: Various government forms, results of public examinations, online university admission, online birth-death registration, VGF-VGD list and citizenship certificate etc.

 

Livelihood based information: agriculture, health, education, law and human rights, tourism, non-agricultural enterprises, etc. This information is provided from the National E-Database (www.infokosh.bangladesh.gov.bd), a biographical database. In addition to online, UISCs also have offline versions of national e-databases (CDs / DVDs) to provide uninterrupted service even without an internet connection.

 

Commercial Services: Mobile Banking (Dutch Bangla, Trust Bank, BRAC Bank-Bikash, Macintail Bank), British Council English Education, Computer Training, Photography, Internet Browsing, Email, Job Information, Composing, Visa Application & Tracking, Domestic Abroad Video conferencing, awareness video shows, printing, scanning, photocopying, laminating, flexiload, making phone calls etc.
